Rocket Exhibit at Dublin Library, Free STEM Event
At the heart of Dublin, a city known for its growing innovation, vibrant youth, and strong community spirit, Galactic Getaway brought space a little closer to home. In partnership with the Dublin Library, this interactive workshop inspired students, families, and curious minds to look up and dream big.
Led by Saanvi Phaneendra, a space enthusiast, Eagle Scout candidate, and founder of Galactic Getaway, the event was designed not just to teach, but to ignite curiosity and imagination.
How Our Hands-On Rocket Workshop Inspired the Next Generation of Explorers
In this interactive session, students dove into the science and structure behind rockets. Using a custom-designed presentation, we covered how rockets launch and what makes them fly, the roles of engines, fuel, payloads, and design, and what next-gen rockets like Starship, SLS, and Vulcan Centaur are capable of, including the real-world Moon and Mars missions they are part of.
Participants built their own paper rockets, scaled versions of ULA's Vulcan Centaur, and learned how each rocket part affects flight. This hands-on experience helped link abstract physics to real-world exploration.
Exploring the Final Frontier
- The importance of space exploration: curiosity, innovation, and survival
- Career paths in space, from astronauts to CubeSat engineers, and even science communicators
- The future of reusable rockets, space tourism, and interplanetary missions
Bringing this program to the Dublin Library was more than a one-day event, it was part of a mission to spread access to space education in public spaces, libraries, and schools. We believe that space belongs to everyone, and our goal is to inspire every young person to see themselves in this exciting future.
Bring the Display to Your Community
We're now scheduling 2–4 week rotations of our display box at local libraries, schools, museums and community centers – at no cost. Want to bring Galactic Getaway to your town?
Thank you to the Alameda County Library and to Mary Ayers-Hughes and Susan Gardner, for the incredible opportunity to bring our space exploration workshop to Dublin. The future of space belongs to those who dare to dream – and at Dublin, we were thrilled to meet so many curious young minds eager to explore, ask bold questions, and imagine what lies beyond our world.
