Launching Imagination in a Community Built on Heart and History – San Lorenzo
Tucked in the East Bay, San Lorenzo is a tight-knit, vibrant community that blends small-town warmth with a deep appreciation for education and equity. With a strong local spirit and growing youth programs, San Lorenzo Library was the perfect place for Galactic Getaway to set up its latest space exploration display.
This hands-on rocket exhibit goes far beyond static visuals. It's a spark – a gateway for students and families to envision a future among the stars. With highly detailed scale models and engaging science storytelling, Galactic Getaway's mission is simple: make space feel personal, possible, and present.
How San Lorenzo is Fueling the Next Generation of Dreamers
Visitors entering San Lorenzo Library are greeted by a striking lineup of 1:144 scale models of the rockets shaping tomorrow – NASA's Space Launch System, SpaceX's Starship, Blue Origin's New Glenn, ULA's Vulcan Centaur, and others.
But this isn't just a showcase of steel and flame – it's a call to wonder. The display invites young minds to explore the science behind propulsion, fuel systems, and mission design through vibrant panels and interactive QR codes. In a library where teens and families gather every day, the exhibit taps into natural curiosity and turns it into inspiration.
What's on Display
- Six cutting-edge rockets including Starship, SLS, Vulcan Centaur, New Glenn, Terran R, and Falcon Heavy
- Museum-quality 1:144 scale models not yet on public display anywhere else
- Informational panels on engines, launch missions, reusability, and fuel types
- Interactive QR codes linking to deeper educational content
Libraries like San Lorenzo are more than quiet places – they're launchpads. By placing this exhibit in a space that welcomes teens, multilingual families, and lifelong learners, Galactic Getaway aims to turn wonder into action.
Because who knows – maybe one of the kids staring wide-eyed at Starship today will be part of designing the next one.
